Disclaimer: I bake with protein powder because protein helps build lean muscle, burn fat and keeps you full longer.

No powdered sweetener or syrup added yet. Just I Canโ€™t Believe Itโ€™s Not Butter Spray ๐Ÿ˜Š

So this may change a bit. I'm using a protein powder that I do not like. I only have 1 scoop left, YES!!! lol But because I'm not a fan of this protein powder, I doctor it up so it tastes good.

Dry Ingredients:

  • 33g vanilla-based protein powder (or whatever they consider 1 serving) -- you can also use any flavor you like or unflavored
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt

What I added to the protein:
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp of granulated sweetener
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Wet ingredients:

  • 46g liquid egg
  • 2 tsp unsweetened apple sauce (this is a substitute for butter and helps when using a protein powder that tends to be drier like whey protein so this step is optional)
  • 1 tsp liquid to thin out the batter (you can use water but I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)

* With the sweeteners, you can use more or less depending on how sweet you like it

Instructions:

  1.  Plug in the mini-waffle maker so it heats up. With this model, the LED light will turn off when it's fully heated.
  2. Mix the protein powder, baking powder, ground cinnamon and sweetener together. Make sure it's thoroughly mixed.
  3. Mix in the apple sauce, eggs and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the liquid for your desired level of thickness.
  5. Spray both the top and bottom cooking lids with non-stick cooking spray.
  6. Pour batter into the bottom. Cover the entire plate and close lid.
  7. When they're done, I spray with a little I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray.

With this level of thickness, they are fully cooked at 3 minutes but you can leave in longer if you prefer a firmer/crispier waffle.

This is 5" mini-waffle maker so using the measurements above will get you at least 4 waffles ๐Ÿ™‚
